BIOGRAPHY

IMG_6936.jpeg

Svetlana Nikolska-Stahl is a photographic artist born in Kazakhstan, shaped by the country’s rich artistic atmosphere. She received her education and professional experience in Ukraine, where her journey as a visual artist began. What started as a childhood passion for drawing and painting gradually evolved into a focused exploration of photography — a medium where emotion, movement, and narrative converge.
Now based in Switzerland, Svetlana explores photography as both an expressive and investigative art form, blending technical precision with poetic nuance. Her work often reflects the tension between personal memory and collective experience, drawing inspiration from visual storytellers such as Alec Soth, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Lee Miller, David Lynch, and Alexander Rodchenko.
Each photograph captures a moment of connection — whether on bustling city streets or in quiet observation of everyday life. Travel is both her muse and her method: most of the works in this portfolio were created during journeys to places far from home.
To deepen her practice, she regularly attends masterclasses and workshops. Svetlana continues to participate in international exhibitions and competitions,
